Susanna Falken Jewellery is a fast-growing e-commerce company selling skin-friendly jewellery. The business has seen rapid growth but the manual and time-consuming accounting was taking focus away from its core operations. An accounting process that hindered business growth

Since its launch, Susanna Falken Jewellery has grown steadily, but a persistent challenge was an inefficient and time-consuming accounting process. This took time away from the owner’s main focus: running the business. Previous solutions were far from effective. The company had tried unreliable systems and worked with an accountant using outdated processes.

“When I started the business, I wanted to be able to work from anywhere, but my first accountant wanted everything sent by post, which didn’t work in the long run. It didn’t align with my digital approach. I had tried previous systems that simply didn’t work; they were complicated and inefficient, costing me both time and money. I also tried learning accounting myself and handling as much as I could, but at the end of each month I had to spend two to three full days going through all the invoices and receipts manually. I don’t want to sit doing accounts all day, I want to drive my business forward,” says Susanna Falken.

Handling invoices and receipts was no small task. She had been using a traditional bank card for all expenses, which offered neither cashback nor other financial benefits, and resulted in high FX fees for international payments.

A solution recommended by the new accounting firm

The turning point came when Susanna’s new accounting firm, Informify, recommended Juni. She chose to try it out and quickly realised several benefits of the platform, such as Juni’s virtual business card. She uses the Juni card for advertising costs on platforms like Google, Meta, and Klaviyo, and for office purchases.

“Today, I don't use my old card at all, only the Juni card. When I use the Juni card, all expenses are accounted for straight away. I don’t have to sit there in the transaction section and wonder where all the old transactions belong or which receipt goes with which purchase, which I previously had to do with the old card. Juni helps with that within their platform. Now I can also set up rules for different things, categories, codes, and so on, so everything is simple for accounting. I don’t need to do much since a lot is automated,” says Susanna.

Informify specifically highlighted Juni’s smooth handling of invoices and receipts, along with the ability to get a clear, real-time overview of the company’s finances and what needed to be done.

“As I said, I used to sit for several days before the end of every month, working on the accounting to get everything in the right place. But now with Juni, it’s just click, click, and it’s done. It’s even a bit fun. Juni’s platform gives me an overview and control immediately. I log in and see exactly how things look. Since I now easily get my invoices and the correct receipts with just a few clicks directly when they arrive in my inbox, I never fall behind on anything. When I log into the platform, I just see: No attachments to approve, everything is accounted for; it’s a great feeling. It’s all green and says zero. I like zero,” she says.

Susanna goes on to explain how Juni’s integration with Fortnox has also simplified her day-to-day work.

“Previously, I was using several different systems that didn’t work together at all. Now, with Juni’s integration with Fortnox, everything flows directly from Juni’s platform straight into Fortnox. It’s incredibly smooth and such a relief, it saves me so much time and energy not having to deal with multiple systems anymore,” she says.

Low conversion fees and cashback on purchases

By using the Juni cards for purchases and payments, the company earns cashback on its expenses. These earnings can be reinvested into marketing and business growth.

“We get cashback on both our SEK and USD accounts, which is great. At the moment, our costs are fairly low, so the latest cashback wasn’t huge, but still better than nothing. When we ramp up marketing and advertising spend, we’ll get much more back. I can then apply the cashback directly to upcoming invoices, which really makes it a win-win,” says Susanna.

For an e-commerce company with international suppliers, currency management is a crucial part of finances. Susanna Jewellery uses Juni’s multi-currency accounts for USD purchases, eliminating the high conversion fees typically charged by traditional banks, while also earning cashback on these payments.

“We have around eight or nine international suppliers that we pay from the USD account. Instead of paying the high conversion fees we would have with the old card, we get lower and more favourable rates, saving costs and earning a bit of cashback as well,” says Susanna.

A solution that also benefits the accountant

The Juni platform has not only simplified Susanna’s work but also improved collaboration with Informify, resulting in a fixed monthly fee.

“It also makes things easier for the accounting firm handling my accounts. Everything is ready and just needs to be exported. It probably doesn’t take them long to manage my accounting each month. For me, it’s reassuring to have someone who can review and check everything. Especially as a solo entrepreneur, it’s invaluable to have support. With Juni and Informify together, it feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders, and I think: that’s sorted, I don’t need to worry about it,” she says.

Informify also finds that collaboration with clients, including Susanna Falken Jewellery, works very well when using Juni. They have a shared platform and no longer need to chase missing receipts.

“Juni saves time for both our clients and us. There’s definitely less manual work, much less. Especially when a client switches from another bank. In some cases, we can more than halve the time spent on ongoing accounting,” says Markus Rundgren, CEO and founder of Informify.
