How AI-BOB gained full control over its payments 

Cumbersome processes and high currency fees 

The fast-growing company AI-BOB aims to transform the construction industry and reduce the number of building errors by using AI at an early stage to detect them. As they grew, they realised the company’s financial processes couldn’t keep up, and the manual work became far too time-consuming.

“Before we started using Juni, all payments and purchases were made through the same account, and there was no efficient process to automatically link purchases to specific teams or individuals. All payments then had to be manually entered into Fortnox. This meant that every expense – whether a licence, office purchase, or travel cost – had to go through multiple manual steps: make the purchase, collect the receipt, email it to Fortnox, and double-check the bookkeeping,” explains Shirin Redha, Process Manager at AI-BOB.

Another challenge for AI-BOB was handling payments in other currencies since they only had an account in SEK.

“We didn’t have any currency accounts before. All international payments, for example for tools, software, or developers in other countries, were made from our SEK account. This meant high conversion fees and additional manual work. Just managing these currency issues internally took unnecessary time,” Shirin says.

Time is money – with Juni, AI-BOB saves both

AI-BOB came across Juni through a recommendation from their accounting firm, Trimero, who both collaborate with and use Juni themselves. High currency fees were just one of the problems at AI-BOB that Juni solved – now they save both time and money.

“Currency fees were a major reason why we chose Juni. It became clear that we were paying more than necessary, without even having transparency on what it actually cost. With Juni, we gained better control over currency flows, lower conversion costs, and, most importantly, we no longer have to monitor every fee or conversion step ourselves. This has been a huge relief both practically and financially, as we have quite a few payments in EUR and USD,” Shirin says.

From an hour to 15 minutes - Juni’s AI reduces manual work

For Shirin, who is responsible for the company’s financial processes, using Juni has resulted in a clear time saving. Features like automatic reminders and the ability to set up rules make her day-to-day work easier.

“What used to take an hour now takes at most 15 minutes. I can send reminders, set spend limits, and create rules for all our recurring payments. Now I have a clear overview of who makes which expense, whether we’re using the correct currency, and if someone has lost a receipt or forgotten to submit it, I can easily see who, what, and when the expense was made so that no payment is missed,” says Shirin and continues:

“With Juni, much happens automatically, and over time it will become even smoother as cards are linked to the correct user. Users have cards in different currencies, and the Fortnox integration makes bookkeeping happen automatically in the background. I would say that the manual work has decreased by at least 50 percent.”

AI-BOB continues its growth journey with Juni as a natural choice

The currency management and custom rules have been clearly valuable for Shirin, but other employees also experience major benefits from Juni.

“Those in the company who have been here for a while really notice the difference. Now, as an organisation, we have full oversight: we can see what is being spent, by whom, and where it belongs. Juni allows us to focus our energy on the right things,” says Shirin, continuing:

“Just as Juni saves time for us, we want to continue developing AI-BOB to save time, money and resources in the construction industry by reducing building errors already at the design stage. Our goal is, of course, for everyone to use us to build better, safer and more sustainable. We are growing quickly, sprinting forward, and we want to continue doing so,” concludes Shirin.
