Wetail develops and operates scalable solutions for hundreds of e-commerce businesses. With international suppliers and an entirely digital operation, the company needed a more automated and efficient approach to financial management. With Juni, Wetail can consolidate all expense management on a single platform, gain better real-time control over finances, and free up time for analysis and growth, while reducing currency costs and earning cashback on purchases.
Wetail is a rapidly growing company that supports a large number of e-commerce businesses daily through a range of technology solutions. Their operations are almost entirely digital, so they wanted digital and efficient tools themselves. Previously, the team spent a significant amount of time on administration due to manual processes.
“The time-consuming part was not understanding the costs, but gathering the documentation, uploading it correctly, and ensuring everything ended up in the right place. It was a lot of ‘moving paper’, just digitally," says Karlis Rode, co-founder of Wetail.
For a company that operates in a data-driven and technical way across almost all areas, this was a clear gap. Their accounting often lagged behind, meaning follow-up and analysis happened retrospectively rather than in real time.
"When we sat down to go through the figures, we had very limited time. It was just about completing the records, rather than discussing what the numbers actually meant," says Björn Walther, co-founder of Wetail.
Wetail discovered Juni through a client who was already using the service. They realised that Juni could simplify their time-consuming financial processes. Juni is now the hub for all their expense management. The company uses Juni’s virtual cards in SEK, EUR, and USD, linked to different team members.
"It’s very convenient to use Juni’s cards. Wetail has ensured that all supporting documents are automatically synced from sources like Gmail directly to the platform as soon as they hit the inbox. We have set up rules for how they should be categorised. Our aim is to make this as automated as possible. When the documents arrive, the recording is already done; we just need to approve and export," says Karlis.
The cards are used for everything from advertising costs and server operations to software licences and other digital services. In addition, they earn cashback on all purchases.
"Everyone we work with, and all our clients, operate in a digital world. Our company is almost 100 per cent digital. Being able to manage all our project tools and other digital services through the Juni cards is extremely convenient. Cashback is always a nice bonus; our advertising costs aren’t very high at the moment, so it’s not huge, but it’s still a welcome extra," says Björn.
Above all, Juni has simplified accounting for Wetail, with the integration with Fortnox playing a key role. Since adopting Juni, Wetail estimates they have more than halved the time previously spent handling receipts, invoices, and transactions, equivalent to over a week of work per year.
"It has been frustrating that accounting always lagged behind the rest of the business. With Juni, it no longer does. Documents come in and are categorised according to our rules, then synced with Fortnox via the integration, which is very smooth and saves time. Since everything happens continuously, we are almost a month faster from an accounting perspective than before," says Karlis.
Instead of focusing on administration, Wetail can now work more strategically with cost management, identifying unnecessary expenses, tracking changes in real time, and making better decisions earlier.
"The most important thing is not just saving time, but what we do with that time. We now have complete control over costs; we can review, analyse, and understand changes. It also allows us to reduce unnecessary spending. By continuously optimising a few recurring costs, the impact on results is quickly significant," says Björn.
Having everything consolidated on a single platform enables them to view their finances in real time and maintain full control, supporting better and more strategic decision-making.
"The biggest benefit of Juni is the time we gain and the real-time control over our finances," says Björn.
Wetail has a significant portion of its cost base in EUR and USD, including server services and international software. Previously, managing this through a traditional bank was complex and expensive due to high exchange fees. With Juni, these costs can be consolidated on dedicated currency accounts and cards.
"Previously, we paid everything through our traditional bank and SEK account, which involved high exchange fees and limited visibility. With Juni, using cards and accounts in multiple currencies, we now have lower fees and the right amounts in the accounts, giving us better control over expenses," says Björn.
Beyond using Juni internally, Wetail is a partner and recommends the solution to their clients. This aligns naturally with how they already work with e-commerce businesses. Many clients pay for licences and services with cards, which can cause issues with expired cards, failed payments, and unnecessary administration.
"Juni’s cards have longer validity, fewer failed transactions, and a much better flow for documents. This ensures our clients’ licences aren’t at risk of being deactivated due to payment issues," says Björn.
The partnership is also based on their experience: many clients face the same challenges Wetail did with time-consuming accounting, high exchange fees, and manual processes that took time away from strategic work.
"Now that we are using Juni to its full extent and see the impact on our day-to-day operations, it feels completely natural to recommend it to others. Previously, our 30-minute follow-up meetings were largely spent on manual tasks – gathering and preparing documentation for Fortnox – which left little room for analysis and strategy. Today, this work is highly automated. We only need to spend about 10 minutes on approvals, allowing us to focus on cost analysis, identifying discrepancies, and making better decisions. That is why we also want to recommend Juni to our clients, so they can benefit in the same way," says Björn.
Wetail continues to grow, particularly in licence-based products and new technological solutions. With Juni as a financial foundation, the team can focus on product development, customer value, and expansion without finance management becoming a bottleneck. They also appreciate how Juni develops the platform and products based on client and partner feedback.
"As long as we have control, transparency, and a system that scales with us, we can focus our energy where it matters most. Juni is a key part of the puzzle for us. They also deserve credit for being so responsive to the needs of users like us and developing based on our feedback," conclude the two co-founders.
Wetail has existed in its current form since 2017. They develop, operate, and integrate e-commerce solutions for approximately 400 clients. The company works across platform development, integrations, shipping, and subscription solutions, holding a strong position in e-commerce with high demands on scalability and automation.
