With rapidly growing production volumes and long payment terms, skincare brand Common Clouds struggled with tied-up capital and time-consuming administration. With Juni, they gained liquidity through credit solutions, seamless management of multi-currency payments, and better control over their entire financial operations.
When Common Clouds launched their first product, Cloud Patch, in February 2022, they were one of the pioneers of pimple patches in the Nordic market. With a focus on products for acne-prone and sensitive skin, they quickly grew and established a strong presence in Sweden.
But growth came with challenges.
“We tied up a lot of capital in order to build up stock, sometimes for more than six months before we saw a return. At the same time, retailers such as H&M Beauty and Kronans Apotek had payment terms of up to two months, so we often found ourselves waiting for money. That made it difficult to continue investing in marketing and new products,” says CEO and co-founder Cajsa Horn.
Administration also consumed unnecessary time, as all advertising spend was handled from a regular SEK account.
“Shopify, Klaviyo, Meta, Google, TikTok – everything was billed monthly. We had to log into each platform and process every payment manually, which was very time-consuming,” adds co-founder Helena Radelius.
The solution came via an e-commerce podcast featuring Juni’s CEO and co-founder Samir El-Sabini. Common Clouds recognised their own challenges in the issues he described, which many e-commerce businesses face, and decided to give Juni a try.
“When we realised the difference Juni could make, it was an easy decision. The credit for invoices in particular has been crucial. Being able to choose up to 120 days on supplier payments helps us enormously during periods when we have a lot of capital tied up, it’s been a real deal breaker for our cash flow,” says Cajsa, continuing:
“It’s also very straightforward to move credit between different currencies. We can easily transfer funds to our euro account if needed.”
Although it was the credit for invoices that initially attracted them, Common Clouds quickly discovered the benefits of other Juni products as well.
“We now also use Juni’s virtual cards for our ad spend. Since we make international payments, we’ve been able to set up cards and accounts in several currencies – currently SEK, USD, GBP and EUR,” explains Helena and continues:
“There’s much less manual work now. Honestly, I hardly need to do anything anymore, it just runs smoothly. Not having to log into every platform at the end of the month saves a huge amount of time. Everything is connected to a Juni card and consolidated in one place, which gives us much better oversight. Plus, it makes life easier for our accountant,” she adds.
The ease and simplicity are further enhanced by Juni’s platform, which is designed to be user-friendly.
“Juni’s platform is very straightforward and easy to get an overview of. The interface is really pleasant to use and feels modern, unlike many traditional banking systems,” says Helena.
Common Clouds has quickly established a strong position in the Swedish market and now aims to expand across the Nordics and into the rest of Europe. They see Juni as an important partner in that journey:
“We know that acne is a global issue, and we believe in our solution. That’s why it feels reassuring to have Juni with us, making it easier to grow internationally, especially with credit solutions and multi-currency accounts – which will only become more and more important,” says Cajsa Horn.
The skincare brand Common Clouds was founded in Stockholm in 2022 by three women: Cajsa, Maria and Helena. The company develops products for acne-prone and sensitive skin and has a clear vision: to make effective products accessible to everyone – regardless of budget.
With sales through their own e-commerce, H&M Beauty and pharmacies, they have quickly built a strong presence in Sweden and are now expanding further into Europe.
